Data Center Technician
Carpathia Hosting has an immediate need for Data Center Technicians to support a 24x7 Data Center Operations Center in Ashburn, VA. Multiple shifts are available.
Candidates must be US Citizens and be able to pass an extensive background check.
The Data Center Technician position is responsible for providing on-site Data Center Support including the receiving, inspecting, tracking, installation, configuration, documentation, and support and troubleshooting of technology equipment. This includes, but is not limited to, server builds and configuration, network equipment, storage systems, and cabling within the data center environment.
Responsibilities:
- Provide on-site physical and virtual support of technology infrastructure
- Deploy and configure Windows server operating systems
- Diagnose and repair various network, software, and operating system configuration issues
- Install and remove server, network, and infrastructure equipment
- Receive, unbox, and move assets from building loading dock to secure company storage
- Update and maintain corporate asset management system with all moves, adds, and changes
- Communicate with customers via email, telephone, and corporate ticketing system
- Perform daily walkthroughs of the environment to check for system faults and escalate
- Cable infrastructure and hosts per industry guidelines
- Assist with new implementations and provide feedback to engineering and management to help streamline provisioning flow.
Requirements:
- Previous experience working in a complex high availability data center environment.
- Familiar with enterprise data center environment cabling standards and quality control
- Understanding of data center infrastructure systems and various requirements
- Able to perform equipment installations and dock duties (lift and move 50lbs)
- Intermediate experience working with Windows Server 2003 and 2008
- Familiar with diagnosing network, operating system, and component failure issues
- Basic understanding of network principles
- Functional Knowledge of server, network, and infrastructure technology
- Excellent business professional oral and written communication skills.
- Must have the ability to prioritize and perform multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Exceptional team player -- willing to go above and beyond to ensure tasks are completed
Additional Skills:
- A + , Network+, or Server+ desired
